BIO
Danny Alvarado (he) (b. 1997, North Carolina) is a photographer based in New York City. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Political Science (with a concentration in public administration and policy / state and local government) from East Carolina University (ECU) in 2019. Alvarado is professionally trained as a photographer, having earned an Associate in Applied Science, summa cum laude, in Photography and Related Media from the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) in 2025.

He typically photographs the world around him, architecture, and city life. His more personal work explores consequential social and political rules, and issues of identity, mostly via a Latinx and queer lens. Alvarado is influenced by his own experiences as a queer man and how contemporary social rules and public policy affect the lives of queer and other marginalised people in the United States. His work aims to raise awareness on these themes, to create dialogue, to get people engaged, and to result in political actions that advance protections and rights for all people.

His most recent project, working title "Trans and Non-Binary in America Today," revolves around the lives of trans and non-binary Americans living in a society regressing on the protections and rights of non-cis people. This work aims to humanize these Americans in the face of dehumanizing policies and to showcase them exercising their rights, including the right to bear arms against their oppressors.
His work has been exhibited at the Museum at FIT and published in W27 Newspaper. Other works are published by NYC Service, a division of the Mayor’s Office. Alvarado’s other photographic interests include architecture, portraits, cityscapes, and documentary work.
